How to Downgrade Google Pixel from Android 12 to Android 11
Before we go into the instructions,
there are a few things you should know about choosing a tag.
Make sure you fulfill all of these
requirements before proceeding to the downgrading process.
The fundamental needs
To begin, make a complete backup of
your device, This is due to the fact that the procedure outlined below will
delete all of the data on your device.
- Next, enable USB Debugging and OEM Unlock on your device.
- Head to Settings > About phone > tap Build number 7 times > Go back to Settings > System > Advanced options > Developer options > Enable USB debugging and OEM unlocking.
- You will also have to unlock the bootloader on your device.
- If you haven't done it yet, refer to our guide on How to Unlock Bootloader via Fastboot Method on Android
- Similarly, install Android SDK Platform Tools on your PC.
- Finally, get the Android 11 stable firmware for your device: Factory Images for Android 11.
Download the Android SDK
To begin, go to the Android developer
website and download the Android SDK.
Also, be sure to obtain the most
recent factory image for your Pixel from this link and extract the zip file
(you'll need to decompress it before proceeding to the last step in this method).
Then, in the folder containing the
platform's tools, start a command prompt or a terminal (depending on your
laptop or desktop operating system).
Enable developer settings and USB debugging
Now that the SDK is installed, let's
get started. The next step is to activate developer options and USB debugging
so you may proceed to the next phase.
- To do this, first go to Settings.
- Then go to System and choose About phone.
- Then, seven times, touch on Build Number. After seven taps, a dialog box with the words "You are now a developer" will display at the bottom of the screen.
- Return to the main Settings page by pressing Back. You should now see a Developer options option.
- Look for USB debugging in the developer settings.
- Make sure the USB debugging switch is turned on.
- Connect your smartphone to your PC and accept the prompt on your phone to allow USB debugging while connected to this PC by clicking OK.
- To make sure it reads your device, run the adb devices command at a command prompt or terminal. If it reads "unauthorized," it indicates you must still grant it authorization.
Unlock the bootloader
You'll need to unlock your bootloader
before you can do anything else.
This is another another major selling
point for the Pixel phone,The fact that the bootloader can be readily unlocked.
Note: If you flashed the Android 12
beta, your bootloader is most likely already unlocked (unless you locked it
again after flashing the beta version).
To begin, make sure your phone is
turned off entirely. Then press and hold the Power and Volume Down buttons at
the same time. You'll be sent to the bootloader menu as a result of this.
You may also use the command prompt to reboot the bootloader by typing adb reboot bootloader.
You'll now need to run the fastboot
flashing unlock command to really unlock the bootloader.
When you return to your phone, a
dialog box will appear asking whether you're sure you want to unlock the
bootloader.
Because it will factory reset your
device,Use the Volume buttons to select either Yes or No and then use the Power
button to confirm that.
Once done, type fastboot
reboot-bootloader.
Factory image flashing
It's now time to install the factory
image. Of course, if you've done this previously, these following two steps are
usually unnecessary.
Type adb devices at the command prompt or terminal window to verify that your device is connected.
You'll now enter bootloader mode on the device, You may either switch it off and then press and hold the power and volume down buttons, or use the command prompt to run adb reboot bootloader.
Make that the files in the factory
image have been extracted, then type flash-all at the command line.
All of the files associated with your
Pixel smartphone will be flashed.
This will take some time, and the restart
will take at least 10 minutes.
As a result, you don't have to be
concerned about it taking too long.
while it rebuilds your device's cache
and other settings You're all set once it boots up, and you're back on Android
11.
