Download Subway Surfers for Android last version
- Editorial review
If you were to only have one game installed in your phone, this would be this one. Very few flaws need to be corrected in Subway Surfers, which impresses both with its graphics and its performance.
The flip side is that an old phone will have a hard time digesting its gluttony, leading to some unpleasant lags. However, this app has everything to be considered a classic of the genre, relaying Temple Run to the rank of second in the league.
An effective running game
Any self-respecting racing game has a storyline, no matter how simple. Here you step into the shoes of a graffiti artist trying to escape a security guard and his dog, who caught you tagging a train. The pursuit is then launched through the rails of the railroads. In order not to get caught, you must run, avoiding the obstacles that stand in front of you. Using your finger, move your character left and right to dodge the trains advancing towards you, while collecting the pieces that are in your way; a simple blow up or down allows you to jump or squat.
The gameplay is therefore nothing extraordinary, remaining faithful to the principles that govern most running games. The handling being very fast, the pleasure of the game is also immediate.
Subway Surfers is, surprisingly, a very comprehensive app for a free mobile application. Each game gives rise to an immersive experience that is roughly worth what you can find on old consoles.
The adrenaline gradually rises as the speed increases and the difficulty increases, until reaching that moment (enjoyable) when the slightest inattention can become fatal.
During your frantic race to freedom, certain bonuses are collectable and help you survive longer.
For example, you can take to the air with a Jetpack or take great leaps with Super sneakers; as for the Magnet, it will automatically take care of collecting all the parts for you.
Your character also has a flying surfboard, which can be used at any time by double-tapping the screen.
This equipment has the advantage of giving you a second chance in the event of a collision - for a limited time, however.
Become a national legend
Be sure to catch as many coins as possible, because it is with this money that you will be able to provide yourself in the shop.
The latter offers a wide range of purchases, such as boosts aimed at increasing your score or improvements intended to increase the duration of the bonuses during a game.
You also have the possibility to buy new skins for your board and your character. Of course, if you want to recharge your coins faster, your credit card is - as is often the case - your best ally.
Your score is calculated based on your lifespan. The longer you manage to escape the guard, the more points you accumulate.
There are no levels to complete in Subway Surfers: as long as you don't get caught in the face, you keep playing. In addition to this, you can complete “missions” (jump 20 times, collect 200 coins in one race, etc.) and “achievements” (example: obtain a score of 60,000 without jumping or rolling) that allow you to fight against the monotony of the parts.
The competition aspect is also rather well thought out, although quite classic. Beyond your own records to be surpassed, your score is highlighted with that of other players in your country, ranking you in each game in the gold, silver or bronze category.
If you want, you can also log into your Facebook account and try to beat your friends' performance.
A generous freemium
Downloading the app is completely free. It is quite possible to play without spending anything, and that does not pose much problem in terms of gaming experience. On the other hand, it will be difficult for you to reach astronomical scores without certain paid boosts.
Likewise, some advertisements appear outside the games, without being too intrusive. Besides, if you don't have a problem with viewing ads, you can easily get some extra coins.
This free of charge does not affect the performance of Subway Surfers, which is quite remarkable.
Evidenced by the fluidity of the games, which has nothing to envy of the best running games that can be found on console or computer. Only downside: the application is very greedy.
So plan some slowdowns if your phone is too old or you run other programs in the background (personally, I had to resolve to close Spottily to be able to play quietly).
Likewise, the graphics are colorful and very elaborate; we note a real effort on the part of the developer to take care of the decorations, where others would be satisfied with the bare minimum. The World Tour concept also brings constant renewal, each month installing the game universe in a new city.
Our team therefore had the pleasure of roaming the streets of Chang'an, with the bonus of a soundtrack specially dedicated to this Asian atmosphere.
